Richard Bell sent some information and photos regarding his Grandfather, Sgt A.M. McKelvie:
"In addition to the Tempest, my Grandfather flew Spitfires, Hurricanes, Furies, Mosquito bombers, Ansons, Oxfords, Meteors, Vampires, Venoms and Varsities and many others. He finished his flying career as a "Master Green Instrument pilot", able to fly in all weathers. He used to say his favourite aircraft was either the Spitfire mark 9 or the Vampire FB5. I'm sure he rated the Tempest highly too though! The photos below show Sgt A.M. McKelvie, with a Hawker Tempest NX152 and a Hawker Fury. I know very little about these photos, only that he was ferrying the aircraft overseas from the UK, and that the Fury is a 'Baghdad Fury', destined for Iraq.
